NEW MATERIAL:A quinolonecarboxylic acid expressed by formula I [R<1> is lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, fluoroethyl, difluoromethyl, etc.; R<2> is H or lower alkyl; R<3>-R<7> are H or lower alkyl; R<8> is H, lower alkyl, benzyl, trityl, acyl, etc.; Alk is alkylene; W is hydroxyl group, alkyloxy, thiol, alkylthio, etc.; X<1> is H or halogen; Y is N or =CX<2>- (X<2> is H, halogen, etc.); k is an integer 0-2;l is 1 or 2;m is 0 or 1; n is an integer 0-3]. EXAMPLE:1-Cyclopropyl-6, 8-difluoro-1, 4-dihydro-7-[ 3-( 2-hydroxyethylaminome thyl)-1-pyrrolidinyl]-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxyl-ic acid. USE:Useful as an antimicrobial agent and effective against anaerobic germs and fungi of the genus Mycoplasma. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula II is condensed with a compound expressed by formula III and the resultant condensate is hydrolyzed to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I. |
