NEW MATERIAL:A 2-pyridylacetic acid derivative of formula I [R<1> is alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl; R<2> is H, straight-chained or cyclic alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, formula II (n is 0-3; A is N-containing heterocycle)] and its acid adduct. EXAMPLE:Ethyl 2-methylthiocarbamoyl-2-(2-pyridyl)acetate. USE:A remedy for digestive ulcer. It has an action to inhibit gastric acid secretion and simultaneously to protect gastric mucosa with reduced toxicity. PREPARATION:A compound of formula III is allowed to react with ammonia or an amine of formula IV, when desired, treated with a pharmaceutically permissible acid to give a 2-pyridylacetic acid derivative and its acid adduct with a pharmaceutically permissible acid. |
