PURPOSE:To conduct discharge recovery processing positively by providing a removing means in which foreign matters in an ink supply path are removed by discharging ink through a branch flow path in the ink supply path to a discharge opening. CONSTITUTION:By joining section 3 a head 1 is capped at a home position, a vent valve 5A is closed by ON operation of a lever 9, and ink is sucked by a pump 6. A solenoid valve 8 is opened and the joining section is opened to atmospheric air, the joining section 3 is separated and a carriage is moved, a section to be joined 86 is capped by the joining section 3, a three-way valve 80 is changed over to the branch flow-path 82 side, and the lever 9 is operated. Ink is discharged quickly from the section to be joined 86 having small passage resistance by the pump 6, and the cause of defective discharge in an ink supply path to at least the three-way valve 80 from a sub-tank 12, that is, foreign matters such as bubbles remaining in a filter 30 and at corner sections and stepped sections are removed positively. |
