<p>Apparatus, which may be at high or normal pressure, comprises a tank with a pair of connecting legs, forming a passage through which the textile material is drawn: a header closely connected with the upper ends of the legs of the tank: means for recycling a portion of the liquid in the tank from one end portion of the tank to the other: heating and pumping means arranged in the passage of the recycling means: a rotating roller arranged in the header: and means for generating jet streams of the treating liquid along the passage for the textile material. The method of treating woven or knitted textiles which may be in rope or open width form consists in running the textile through the U-shaped passage and in feeding a stream of the treating liquid into an upper section of the first leg. A portion of the treating liquid is withdrawn at an upper point of the second leg and is recycled and fed back into the first leg. The textile material is drawn through one passage from the first leg to, and through, the second leg by the roller. Means for controlling the level of the treating liquid which may be dye scouring or washing fluid, and its pressure are provided in the tank. Textiles are produced having excellent handling properties.</p> |
