PURPOSE:To perform the additional processing at a high speed by registering data from the end of a control table with the key values arranged toward the end from the front side and adding the offset value showing the head position. CONSTITUTION:When data are retrieved after the key value is designated, an access is first given to the head address A of a control table 1 and the offset value OFST stored in the head address position is read out. This value OFST is added to the head address for calculation of the head position address where the valid data is stored. The addresses are successively added every 1 from the head position and at the same time each key value is compared with the fed key value. Then the corresponding data is delivered if the coincidence is obtained between both key values. When the new key value is registered, this value is also compared with each registered key value and at the same time the position where the key value should be inserted is decided. Then the registered contents preceding said decided position are shifted forward for each data. At the same time, the offset value is reduced by 1. These forward shifts are possible at a time with a move instruction. Thus the registration is carried out at a high speed.
