PURPOSE:To decrease the generation of excessive drops near edges of a material to be rolled by constituting the material of the parts of a roll to contact the neighborhood of the edges of the material to be rolled of a material having the modulus of elasticity smaller than the modulus of elasticity on the central side. CONSTITUTION:The central part 1 of the roll 10 at the width B of the part where the roll contacts the rolling material is constituted of the material having the large modulus of longitudinal elasticity. The parts of the roll 10 to contact the neighborhood of the edges of the rolling material are constituted of the material having the modulus of elasticity smaller than the modulus of elasticity of the material constituting the central part 1. The generation of the edge drops is thereby decreased and the end crack and elongation at the edges of the rolling material and the generation of the waviness are prevented. |
