PURPOSE:To reduce the occupation time of a network, and to simplify a picture information communication by attaching a print function on a file server, and constituting a device so that a bit of picture information to be processed is not passed on a coaxial cable in a print out processing time. CONSTITUTION:Plural work stations WS and a document file server DFS are connected to a coaxial cable (network) 7 respectively through a network interface adaptor NIA6. The WS consists of a WS controller 4, and a CRT/KB5, and outputs a print request message (a). The DFS consists of a DFS controller 1, a printer 2, and an optical disc device 3, and after the acceptance of the message (a), if returns a response (b) to a WS side. Also simultaneously, the DFS reads out a bit of picture information (c) corresponding to the message (a) from the device 3, and prints it out by the printer 2. Therefore, in the print out processing time, the bit of picture information is outputted without passing the cable 7, and the occupation time of the network can be reduced, and also, the picture information communication can be simplified.
