PURPOSE:To accurately check the capacity of the battery of a dosimeter with a simple means, by connecting a discharge circuit which is variable in discharging current to the dosimeter, and adjusting the discharging current so as to go to one previously fixed as the standard of the battery. CONSTITUTION:When the battery checking mode is set by means of a change- over switch 8, a CPU 77 stops the operation of the amplifier 6 of a radiation detector 5 and, at the same time, actuates a discharge circuit 15 so as to start counting of discharging time. The CPU 77 momently reads a battery voltage from an AD converter 4 and causes the voltage to be displayed 14 together with the discharging time. At such a time, adjustment is made so that the summed value of the discharging current of the discharge circuit 15 and the current consumed by a decimeter itself can become almost equal to the standard discharging current of a battery at the discharge circuit 15. When the discharging time reaches a previously set value Ts thereafter, then the battery voltage is stored in a RAM 74. On the other hand, the operation of the discharged circuit 15 and counting of the discharging time are stopped and a waiting state is set for the next charge.
