PURPOSE:To prevent production of wrinkle at a ridge part due to the pressure contact force of a polishing belt, by a method wherein retainer rolls are totally driven, and a drive rotation force is exerted on a ridge roll brought into pressure contact with a polishing belt. CONSTITUTION:Through driving of a drive motor M and running of a chain 34, retainer rolls 7 and 8 are rotated, and the rotation force thereof is transmitted to a retainer roll 9 by means of a chain 28. Through driving of all the retainer rolls 7-9, a polishing belt 10, run about the retainer rolls 7-9, is run, and the drive force of the drive motor M is also transmitted to a ridge roll 16 by means of a chain 37. The ridge roll 16, brought into pressure contact with the polishing belt 10, is driven and rotated, and the polishing belt 10 is run in a condition to hold a stretch state at a ridge part. Production of wrinkle at the ridge part due to the pressure contact is prevented, and driving of all the retainer rolls 7-9 prevents strip of the polishing belt 10 as much as possible. |
