PURPOSE:To bring small signal gains to approximately zero, and to obtain a large output stably by mixing an absorptive medium with a laser amplifying medium approximately uniformly. CONSTITUTION:The amplification characteristics of a laser amplifier are determined by the amplification coefficient G0 of an amplifying medium and saturation energy ES. When the combination and mixing conditions of the materials of an absorptive medium uniformly mixed with the amplifying medium and the amplifying medium are selected properly and alpha=G0 (alpha represents the absorption coefficient of the absorptive medium) holds, the small signal gains of the laser amplifier can be brought to approximately zero. When the materials of the amplifying medium and the absorptive medium are selected more adequately under the conditions of such a zero small signal gains and materials having absorption cross sections sigma' remarkably larger than induced emission cross sections sigma are each selected, the saturation energy ES of the amplifying medium can be enlarged particularly. Accordingly, when stable insulating SF6 gas is added and mixed uniformly to CO2 gas as the amplifying medium, the small signal gains of a CO2 gas-laser device are brought to approximately zero, and internal oscillation easy to be generated with the increase of capacitance is inhibited approximately completely, thus stably attaining the desired augmentation of capacitance. |
