PURPOSE:To obtain a platen light in weight, low in noise and inexpensive, by providing a rigid plastic on the outer periphery of a metallic shaft in an integral form, and covering the outer periphery of the plastic by a coated layer. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical body 2 of a rigid plastic is provided on the outer periphery of a metallic shaft 1 in an integral form, and the outer periphery thereof is covered by a coated layer 3 of a rubber elastic material or a flexible plastic having the same degree of elasticity as that of the rubber elastic material. The rigid plastic used for the cylindrical body 2 may be, for example, polypropylene, rigid polyvinyl chloride, ABS, a polyamide, polyacetal or PBT. To provide the cylindrical body 2 on the outer periphery of the shaft 1 in the integral form, a plastic molding method such as injection molding can be adopted. To enhance adhesion to the rigid plastic, the shaft is usually is subjected to knurling process at a part to be covered by the plastic. |
