PURPOSE:To optically connect optional two pieces of optical fibers contiguous to each other by displacing a switching element to the arranging direction of the respective optical fibers by a guide mechanism. CONSTITUTION:Many pieces of the optical fibers 1a-1n which are disposed in parallel at equal intervals on the same plane are clamped by a suitable holding mechanism, by which the arranging state thereof is maintained. The switching element 12 has the size to optically connect the two optical fibers contiguous to each other of the above-mentioned fibers 1a-1n and is disposed on the terminal side of the optical fibers 1a-1n. The guide mechanism 13 consists of a guide member 15 having a rail groove 14 and a slider 16 freely slidably housed and supported in the rail groove 14. The element 12 is fitted into the slider 16. The two optical fibers contiguous to each other are connected like 1a and 1b, 1b and 1c, 1c and 1d... by moving the element 12 in an arrow direction by means of the guide mechanism 13.
