Animal foodstuff comprising as main source of protein and carbohydrate a material obtained from the spent compost after growing mushrooms, the compost having been purified and opt. mixed with food additives. The compost which contains horse-manure is readily digested by animals and forms a first class source of protein and carbohydrate. The straw present in the horse-manure is broken down during the growth of the mushroom mycelium and becomes assimilable. The compost is usually separated from the ground chalk and/or peat covering and harmful substances are removed. The residue is milled and optionally mixed with foodstuffs such as oil cake, meat and fish meals, flour, cereals. |
