Fibre forming polyamides with reduced ter - minal amino content

Polyamide forming monomer chosen from amino-carboxylic acid lactams, and diamine salts is heated in a first stage with a dicarboxylic acid under high pressure to form a low molecular polyamide. The latter is then heated to give a fibre-forming polyamide. The latter is then heated in a second stage under atmospheric or reduced pressure to give a fibre-forming polyamide of high mol.wt. During or after the second stage 0.01-10 wt. % of diphenyl carbonate opt. substd. by non reactive grps. or phenyl carboxylic esters is added to the molten mass. Used to make pneumatic cables, cable-belts fishing lines etc.
