PURPOSE:To fill nickel hydroxide uniformly into a sintered member by performing electrolysis intermittently while maintaining a pressure reduced condition above the liquid level of a nickel salt electrolyte thereby removing foam to be produced in the gaps of the sintered member employed in an anode. CONSTITUTION:When electrolysis in a nickel salt electrolyte is performed while employing a sintered member being employed as an anode, it is performed intermittently in the condition where the pressure above the liquid level of the electrolyte is maintained to be reduced. Since the foam to be produced continuously in the gaps of the sintered member is removed during suspension of electrolysis, in case of intermittent electrolysis, nickel hydroxide can be deposited and filled uniformly into the micro voids. Consequently, in a cell employing such a plate, the energy density can be improved through the high rate of discharge characteristic, the service life and the capacity. |
