<p>Vehicle door latch of the kind having a latch bolt (14) typically a rotating fork or claw, which cooperates with a door post mounted striker (13), includes two separate pawl plungers (20,21) independently urged into coacting relationship with respective engaging faces (22, 23) of the bolt to retain the latter at a safety position at which the door is near closed and at a fully latched position with the door shut. Both plungers can be withdrawn by electrically and/or manually operable release means (26) to free the bolt for opening the door.</p> |
