PURPOSE:To stably obtain cyanocobalamin, by adding a low-toxic potassium ferrocyanide to a culture cell and/or culture liquid of a microbial strain capable of producing coenzyme-type vitamin B12 and heating the mixture for several minutes. CONSTITUTION:In the production of cyanocobalamin from a coenzyme-type vitamin B12 produced by microorganism, potassium ferrocyanide is used in place of potassium cyanide. The pH of the reaction system is adjusted to 4-6, cyanocobalamin is extracted by the same process as the process using potassium cyanide and vitamin B12 is produced therefrom. Cyanocobalamin cannot be produced by the use of potassium ferricyanide.
