PURPOSE:To obtain a multi-color image having no color mixing with a simple process at a high speed by specifying the relation between the quantity of light of full-surface exposing and the quantity of light for potential saturation with an image forming device which subjects a photosensitive body having color separating power to electrostatic charging and image exposing then irradiating specific light surface and repeating the full-surface exposing and developing. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer 2 consisting of sulfur, selenium, amorphous silicone, etc., is formed on a conductive substrate 1 which is made of Al etc., into a cylindrical or endless belt shape. An insulating layer 4 consisting of a transparent resin having many red, green and blue filters enclosed by a colorless insulating layer 3a is provided thereon. Such layer is then successively subjected to electrostatic charging and image exposing and is then developed. The relation between the quantity of light L for the full-surface exposing and the quantity of light L0 indicating the potential saturation generated by exposing is controlled to 0.7L0<=L<=5L0, more preferably, 0.9L0<=L<=3L0. The multi-color image having no color deviations is thus easily obtd. at a high speed.
