PURPOSE:To reduce a power source capacity by converting and smoothing an input DC voltage into another voltage by high frequency switching, and converting to a low frequency AC by a second switching circuit. CONSTITUTION:A power source is composed of a DC/DC converter having a switching circuit S mainly including power transistor, a transformer T and a rectifying and smoothing circuit R, and a DC/AC inverter I including a transis tor without using a transformer. Thus, a DC power source E1 is converted by the circuit S to a high frequency rectangular AC voltage, transformed by the transformer T and then rectified and smoothed. This DC voltage is converted by an inverter I to a low frequency AC, and supplied to a load circuit Z. As a result, since the desired low frequency AC can be obtained by the inverter I formed of a transistor bridge without using the transformer thereby only a small size transformer T is necessitated to make small the size of the power source.
