PURPOSE:To increase the overall efficiency of refining by blowing a specified amount of an agitating gas into molten pig iron flowing downward in a spout from both sides of the spout at positions downstream from a position at which a flux is blown so as to accelerate agitation even at parts close to the side walls. CONSTITUTION:Molten pig iron 2 flowing out of a blast furnace flows downward in a spout 1. The interval between both side walls 10 of the spout 1 widens upward, forming a trapezoidal cross-section. A flux is blown into the molten pig iron 2 flowing downward from a blasting nozzle 3 set above the spout 1 with a carrier gas in the direction of arrows A. Holes 4 for blowing an agitating gas are pierced in both side walls 10 of the spout 1 at positions downstream from the nozzle 3 and the agitating gas is blown into the molten pig iron 2 from the holes 4 in the directions of arrows B. |
