PURPOSE:To improve the output in a broad range of rotation frequency, by furnishing a device to select the exhaust passage to pass through a subexhaust passage or not, and converting the length of the exhaust pipe depending on the difference of the selected exhaust pipe length. CONSTITUTION:At an exhaust port 2 of a two-cycle engine 1, is formed a subexhaust passage 4 just behind the cylinder 3. An inlet 4a and an outlet 4b separated by a partition wall 8 are linked to the upper stream and the lower stream of the port 2 respectively. In such a composition, a device 9 is furnished in the port 2 to select a passage to discharge a part of the exhaust gas through the passage 4 to the lower stream of the port 2, or a passage to discharge all the exhaust gas directly to the lower stream of the port 2 without passing through the passage 4. The selecting device 9 is composed of a rotary valve 10 to close or open the inlet 4a and the outlet 4b.
