PURPOSE:To execute an access to a document body, even if a directory is broken down, by setting each file size of a floppy disk to a fixed length. CONSTITUTION:A floppy disk (FD) has a directory area and a document body area. Each file of the document body area is all set to a fixed length size, and also to each file, a file number (document number) is given sequentially. A CPU 10 reads out a directory from an FDD 47 through an FDD-IF 45. In case the directory has been read correctly, a selected document name is collated to a document name of the directory, and a start sector of the document name which has coincided is derived. In case the directory has not been read correctly, the CPU 10 executes a multiplication of (the document number-1)X(the file fixed length size), based on the inputted document number, and calculates a start address of the document.
