PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage of a constant voltage power supply device by connecting a capacitor for energy bank to a normal input terminal for storage of energy and discharging the stored energy to an off-command terminal in case the load current exceeds its allowable level. CONSTITUTION:When a load produces the abnormality like a short circuit trouble, etc. and the load current exceeds its allowable level, the signal level exceeding the threshold value set in response to the allowable level of the load current is supplied to a current deciding circuit 9 from a current detector 8. Thus the circuit 8 delivers the signal of an H level to a changeover switch 10. The switch 10 is switched and connected to the OFF side while the signal of an H level is received from the circuit 9. Then the energy stored in an energy capacitor 11 is discharged to a command circuit 6 in the form of an off- command. Thus the circuit 6 delivers a signal of an L level to a voltage stabilizing circuit 7. Thus the circuit 7 stops its output and protects a constant voltage power supply.
