PURPOSE:To obtain a device small in size and light in weight and to reduce power consumption by returning the head to the initial position through a cassette pushing out mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When the garage rises to push out the cassette, a hook plate 19 is shifted by the spring force in the opposite direction in an arrow 15 and a slide play 12 is interlocked and shifted. Then, a gear 62 including a rack part 12a, gears 21 and 22 are ratchet mechanism is turned, a cam 63 is turned and a slider 16 iis shifted. The head provided for the slider 16 is automatically returned to the initial position by the mechanism to shift the head to one by one track, and the recording device of the electronic still camera is made small in sized and light in weight and the small power consumption is attained.
