PURPOSE:To smoothly release the lock up state by releasing the lock up state at the time of coasting on detecting the change speed of a boost pressure or releasing. CONSTITUTION:A lock up range detecting means 3 is adapted to judge a lock up range, a clutch operating range and a lock up release range by a car velocity signal 1 and a boost pressure signal 2 of an intake manifold detected by a semiconductor pressure sensor. A boost pressure change speed detecting means 4 detects the change speed by the boost pressure signal 2 detection signal 4a is compared with a preset value by judging and release time setting means 5 to release the lock up state for a fixed time. A lock up solenoid 9 drives a lock up clutch. thus, even if a dash pot is added, the lock up state can be released smoothly.
