PURPOSE:To set the pressing force for the paper sheets by a pressing plate to a proper pressing pressure by installing an auxiliary retreat calculating means for obtaining the auxiliary retreat quantity on the basis of the result of the detection of the retreat quantity detecting means for the pressing plate. CONSTITUTION:When a pulley 12 is revolved in the C' direction by the drive of a motor, a pressing plate 1 shifts in the left direction, and the pressing force for the paper money 11 reduces. When the motor is driven so that the pulley 12 is revolved in the C direction, the pressing plate 1 shifts in the right direction, and the pressing force of the paper money increases. The pressing force permits the free revolution of a shaft 15, keeping the pulley 12 in stop state by the action of a one-way clutch 4, after the pressing plate 1 shifts to the position determined according to the tension of a coil spring 3. A transport roller 10 is revolved in the D-direction by the revolution of a pulley 6, and when the paper money is fed in the F-direction, the paper money is fed between the top paper money which is collected already and the transport roller 10 and collected.
