PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity of equipment for granulating iron oxide powdered in a fluidized bed, by mixing iron oxide used in a fluidized bed combustion furnace with sodium carbonate and collected dust in recovering caustic soda from an alkali pulp waste liquor. CONSTITUTION:A given amount of alkali pulp waste liquor is charged from a feed route 4 into a combustion furnace 2 and burned to feed the formed sodium carbonate through a heat exchanger 13 to a dust remover 3. The rest alkali pulp is fed from a feed route 9 to a fluidized bed combustion furnace 1 and burned by feeding iron oxide from a feed route 8 to feed waste gas containing powdery iron oxide through a heat exchanger 14 to the dust remover 3 where the waste gas is separated from the dust consisting essentially of sodium carbonate and dust consisting essentially of powdery iron oxide to carry out solid-gas separation. The waste gas is discharged from a flue 6. On the other hand, sodium carbonate and powdery iron oxide are supplied from a feed route 11 in the course thereof to each dust, which is added through a transport route 7 to the feed route 8. Thereby, the sodium carbonate and collected dust are fused and applied to the surface of the powdery iron oxide in the fluidized bed combustion furnace 1 to grow into grains.
