<p>Potassium sulphate, for use as a component of fertiliser cpds. and complexes, is made by reaction of stoichiometric quantities of potassium chloride in aq. soln. and calcium sulphate derived from gypsum obtd. from prodn. of phosphoric acid by the wet method. The reaction takes place in aq. ammonia contg. methanol, in ratio of 20-32% of ammonia and 4-20% methanol. After sepn. of the solids at ambient temp., the solid potassium sulphate formed is sepd.</p> |
