PURPOSE:To give high damping property to a metal plate itself and reduce the sound of a pad by using a bainite cast iron material for the outermost layer side metal sheet of a backing metal to interpose high viscosity and elastic ity material layer between layers of said metal sheets. CONSTITUTION:A backing metal 3 provided on a surface of a lining 2 is formed of a plurality of metal plates 4, 5 and a high viscosity and elasticity material layer 6 interposed between said metal plates. And at least the outermost layer side metal plate 5 of a plurality of metal plates 4, 5 is formed of a bainite cast iron material. Thus, the vibration of backing metal is restrained by vibra tion damping capacity of the metal plate 5 made of bainite cast iron material in cooperation with high viscosity and elasticity layer 6, while resonace is restrained by friction between a plurality of metal plates 4, 5 so that the sound of a pad 1 can be reduced.
