PURPOSE:To enable self-charging of sticks, by a method wherein a moving member, formed in a shape in cross section conforming to the shape in cross section of the bottom of a stick, is mounted to a stick hopper, and a number of sticks arranged in a longitudinal direction are moved obliquely. CONSTITUTION:A stick elevator part 23 has a locking member formed in a shape in cross section conforming to the shape in cross section of a stock bottom obliquely moved through a stock hopper part 22. Through engagement of the locking member with a stick bottom, the sticks are pushed up in given orientation one by one from a stick hopper part 22 up to a stick buffer part 24. The stick buffer 24 contains the pushed-up sticks once conveying part 25. The conveying part 25 horizontally moves the transferred stick in a position above a stick charging part 2 of an automatic IC inserting machine body 1, and are dropped in a given channel to feed them to a processing part 7. This facilitates automatic charging of the stick.
