PURPOSE:To eliminate relative displacement between a steering shaft and a column change rod and ensure easy gear change operation by making shiftable the gear change lever fitting part of the column change rod laid in parallel with the steering shaft and at the same height in respect of a universal joint part. CONSTITUTION:The upper shaft 2 and the lower shaft 3 of a steering shaft 1 are connected to each other via a universal joint 4. Also, the upper rod 12 and the lower rod 13 of a column change rod 10 are connected to each other via another universal joint 14. And the universal joints 4 and 14 are arranged virtually on the same horizontal line 'A', and the upper shaft 2 and the upper rod 12 are arranged on the same plane of rotation about the horizontal line 'A'. furthermore, the gear change lever fitting part of the column change rod 10 is made shiftable. According to the aforesaid constitution, relative displacement between the steering shaft 1 and the column change rod 10 can be eliminated and gear change operation can be done easily and smoothly. |
