The process according to the invention comprises the simultaneous hydrogenation and acetylation of nitrosophenol in a solvent medium comprising at least one ester of an alcohol containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms and/or at least one aliphatic organic acid containing from 1 to 5 carbon atoms. Application to the production of N-acetyl-p-aminophenol, or paracetamol, under extremely advantageous cost, yield and purity conditions.
