PURPOSE:To produce significant anti-irradiation, antihalation and filter effects by using a specified dye. CONSTITUTION:This light absorbing photographic dye is represented by the formula (where R1 is H or the like, R2 is sulfoalkyl or the like and R3 is alkyl or the like). The dye has a wide absorption band in the desired wavelength region, hardly causes unnecessary subsidiary absorption in other wavelength region and also has a high molecular extinction coefft., so a small amount of the dye used can well show the significant anti-irradiation, antihalation and filter effects without exerting any unfavorable influence on photographic characteristics, that is, without causing fogging or desensitization. |
