CAST RECUPERATOR TUBE

A hollow metallic envelope for a recuperative heat exchanger is cast using a sand mould and a sand core having lateral protuberances that extend to the mould sides. The core is assembled with upper and lower mould portions and the assembly is enclosed in a strong back. Molten metal is supplied to the clearance space that exists between the core and mould sides. The envelope is cast as an integral unit in a single casting operation that eliminates excessive casting time and assembly.
