PURPOSE:To improve the throughput and improve the memory efficiency by acquiring the cell of a data area for LAN in a buffer area and moving the pointer in the cell. CONSTITUTION:When the buffer area is used for LAN, a work station manager part indicates the head P0 of the system cell position of a data buffer prepared by a cell manager part for LAN as a buffer address. When the buffer area is used as the system cell of a local computer circuit, a position P1 below the head position P0 is indicated as a cell address. Then, the part between those buffer address P0 and cell address P1 and the header part of the system cell become the header part of data for LAN. Therefore, even when transmit data is generated under the control of the program of the local computer circuit, specific header data is only added so as to make the transmit data into data for LAN.
