PURPOSE:To obtain a converted image of good quality whose deterioration is smallest as compared with its original image by providing an answer input means with which an operator inputs an answer to an inquiry from a color integrating means and enabling the operator to judge whether color integration is normal or not. CONSTITUTION:The color integration means 8 is provided with a function which various a color map 3 or the color map 3 and picture element values in an image memory 3, a function which displays images before and after the map variation in each color integration on a display device 4 and inquires about whether the color integration is performed or not, and a function which varies the map 3 according to the answer input of the operator to said inquiry. Further, the answer input means 12 with which the operator inputs the answer in response to the inquiry from the means 8 is provided. Consequently, the operator views the display and judges whether the color integration should be performed or not, so no improper color integration is performed and a converted image which deteriorates less from its original image, maintains the information contents of the original image excellently, and consists of a small number of kinds of limited colors is obtained. |
