The invention relates to a support for a cutting tool for working on a hard material, for example coal or asphalt. The support comprises an element 10 fixed to the machine and an element 11 carrying the tool. The element 10 has a projecting part 13 which is designed to be housed in a cavity of the element 11. The two elements 10, 11 are designed to be fastened to each other by means of a wedge-type action between the interacting surfaces 14, 15, which may be conical or inclined, of the projecting part 13 and of the cavity. <IMAGE>
