PURPOSE:To make the manufacture of dies for molding a honeycomb structural body possible not by electric discharge machining but by simple cutting operation with drilling machine, lathe or the like by a structure wherein a die main body consists of a basic part having through hole passages for feeding material and a plurality of columns, which rise from nearly tetragonal unbored parts on the top face of the basic part and at the same time are positioned apart from one another. CONSTITUTION:First, sixteen through holes 4 are bored with the drill of a drilling machine on a cubic block. Secondly, holes 4 in the outermost hole lines are bisected and small blocks 11a, 11b, 11c and 11d are removed in parallel to outer edges 5a by being cut off with a lathe or the like. Thirdly, a columnar surmounting part 8a is cut off by a small cutting width (e) from the upper part of the surmounting part 8a down to a basic part 7a in such a manner as to respectively bisect holes 4 within the columnar surmounting part 8a in order to form a first die 2 having nine independent columns 8. A second die 3 is a square tubular body with an opening 10, which is square in section and is set onto the basic part 7 of the first die 2 in such a manner as to have gap widths (e) between the columns 8 and the opening 10. In order to manufacture a honeycomb structural body, the dies 3 and 2 are fittingly installed in a frame body 12 which has a square opening 14 and on the bottom of which die supporting seats 12a are provided. |
