GLASS FIBER FOR OPTICAL TRANSMISSION

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve heat resistance, radiation resistance and flame retardance by providing a protective coating consisting of polysulfone to the outside periphery of a glass fiber for optical transmission. CONSTITUTION:A silicone resin compsn. is coated to the glass fiber for step type multimode optical transmission essentially consisting of quartz glass having 125mumphi diameter right after spinning of the optical fiber and is then baked to 0.4mmphi outside diameter. The protective coating layer consisting of the polysulfone is provided on the outside periphery thereof. The glass fiber for optical transmission which excels in all of the characteristics including the heat resistance, radiation resistance and flame retardance is thus obtd.
