PURPOSE:To provide the titled novel polymer with the stereochemical structure of the side chain to the main chain being syndiotactic one, having such regular molecular structure as having never been found, outstanding in high heat and chemical resistances, also usable as a functional polymer. CONSTITUTION:A styrene derivative monomer as the raw material is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst consisting of, for example, a combination of a titanium compound such as titanium halide and alkylamino acid to obtain the objective polymer with a polymerization degree >=5 having recurring unit of formula (R is H, halogen or substituent containing C, O or N; n is integer 1-3) with its stereoregularity being of syndiotactic structure.
