The present invention relates to an apparatus making it possible to precisely determine the number of heads or ears of cereals on a given cultivated surface. Measurement is carried out on the culture while growing or having attained a variable maturity stage. The apparatus is composed of two parts linked by a flexible electrical cable: an analyser box and a divider and transmitter of the number of heads or ears. The analyser box is composed of a keyboard 1, of a liquid crystal display 2, of a start/stop button 3, of a push-button 4, of fixing points 5 for a harness, of a connecting plug 6, of an electrical extension 7, of a dry battery 8, and of an integral charger 9.
