PURPOSE:To easily position a tool with high precision without requiring any correcting operation by reading origin position data right after the final operation position data on one operation, returning the tool to an origin every time one operation stroke is completed, and setting a positioning counter to zero until the tool leaves the origin. CONSTITUTION:Data on a weld position is stored in the memory of a controller 5 during welding operation according to the order of welding and then read out in the storage order. The current position of the counter 1 is compared with a read position and a controller 5 inputs a control signal to a motor control circuit 8 until the counter reaches its preset value, so a movable table 3 where a welding machine is mounted is moved through a motor 7 and a screw rod 4. A movement distance signal from a rotary encoder 12 is inputted to an counted by the counter 1. When the counted value reaches the present value, the movable table 3 is stopped and welding operation is carried out. A limit switch 15 is turned on after the operation is completed, and an origin signal is inputted to the controller 5, so that the motor 7 is stopped.
