The invention relates to a scaring device for birds, in particular pigeons, for fastening on buildings, having at least two spaced-apart uprights (1) whose lower end can be connected to the building, while a cord, a wire (6) or the like is tensioned, with the interposition of at least one tension spring (5), between the upper ends (3) of said uprights. The scaring device can be particularly easily mounted and fastened on the building without bores if the uprights are plugged, by means of their bottom ends, into a retaining strip (2, 2', 2'') which exhibits a bearing surface for the building. <IMAGE>
