PURPOSE:To attain high performance and efficiency, by providing manifolds for oxidizing gas feed holes and discharge holes and fuel gas feed holes and discharge holes in different positioned for respective stages so as to change the direction of gas flow on the bottoms of separators. CONSTITUTION:When fuel gas FG is supplied to fuel gas feed passages at respective sides and oxidizing gas OG is supplied to oxidizing gas feed passages at the respective sides, the fuel gas ascends in the four feed passages in all and then flow on the top of separators 4 in respective prescribed states from manifolds provided in the separator different for the respective passages and the oxidizing gas flows to the bottom of the separators 4 is the respective stages. The fuel gas FG and the oxidizing gas OG flow oppositely to each other on the tops and bottoms of the separators 4-1-4-4 in the stage so that the fuel gas and the oxidizing gas flow perpendicularly to each other while sandwiching electrolyte plates 1 and electrodes 2, 3. As a result the distribution of temperature of each electrolyte plate 1 is leveled to uniform the distribution of electrical current density to heighten performance and reliability and lengthen life. |
