A device for stripping different lengths of electrical cables and for pressing plugs onto the stripped cable elements has, in a known manner, a moving lifting upper part (5) and a stationary lower part (6) with a plug feed (8). In order to improve the operating processes for stripping and crimping, a common cable holding and plug separating device (9) is integrated in the lower part (6) and its two cylinder/piston units (33, 33') are integrated in a base (7) of the device. The stripping device (50), which is arranged in a sliding manner in a machine housing (1), is constructed in two stages, the first stage being a stripping stage and the second stage an ejection stage for the scrap insulation which has been cut off. Suitable ejection pliers (53) are constructed such that they can be displaced, tilted and pivoted laterally. <IMAGE>
