PURPOSE:To improve operation efficiency by providing a reader/writer means for an IC card, a file memory stored with numerical control data and control data distinctively, a memory for an IC card control program, and a memory for a numerical control program. CONSTITUTION:This numerical controller is equipped with the reader/writer means 21 which reads and writes the IC card 1, a keyboard 22 for indicating the operation of the whole controller, a display part 23, the memory 24 for the IC card control program which controls the reading, writing, etc., of the IC card 1, the file memory 25 stored with the read control data and numerical control data distinctively, and the memory 26 for the numerical control program for numerical control operation. The IC card 1 need not be read and written sequentially unlike a perforated tape and a desired area is read and written according to addresses. Consequently, the numeric control data and control data are stored distinctively and used for a working program and set-up.
