Interference filter on a substrate which is transparent to the visible part of the spectrum and is composed of alternating dielectric layers made in each case from material with a higher (H) and with a lower (L) index of refraction, with the application of lambda /4 layers, which filter is designed such that radiation of a desired wavelength region is passed and radiation of the adjacent wavelength regions is reflected, use being made in addition to lambda /4 layers of lambda /2 layers having a layer sequence in the form of two successive layer stacks (double stack) (20), one layer stack consisting of lambda /4 (H) and (L) layers and the other layer stack consisting of alternating lambda /4 and lambda /2 (H) and (L) layers, and lambda being the design wavelength of the interference filter. <IMAGE>
