The invention relates to the control of a variable displacement pump by means of a pressure-dividing circuit which is arranged in a bypass line of the pump to the tank and in which the control pressure is tapped between two choke points. In this way, the control can be realized with very simple means and without great losses, and an adjustable choke valve can be activated in a simple manner by an electric command signal.
