PURPOSE:To obtain a dot matrix fluorescent character display tube having no variation of brightness by arranging a grid on a same plane with anode dots, thereby eliminating the deformation of the grid. CONSTITUTION:A wiring layer 2 and an insulation layer 3 are formed on an insulation substrate 1 such as glass or ceramic, where a silicon substrate 5 formed with MOS-FET4, anode electrodes (anode dots) 6 having one side of about 0.4mm while including fluorescent material 7 applied thereon and a grid 9 surrounding at least one anode dot is arranged on said insulation layer 3. A filament 8 is arranged on the anode dots formed in the direction perpendicular against the plane of a drawing. Electrons emitted from the filament 8 are accelerated by the potential of the grid 9 and the anode dots 6 and dispersed uniformly by the grid 9 so as to remove the grid between the anode dots 6 and the filament 8. Consequently, it will never cause deformation of the grid due to impingement of thermions nor uneven emission of light.
