The invention relates primarily to a method for manufacture of particle boards, but the method does not exclude other known methods for dry manufacture of boards from plant fibres, such as from bagasse, provided, however, that formaldehyde constitutes part of the glue used. The invention is based on the use of modified starch together with the actual glue. The modified starch can be carbamate, ester or ether. This modified starch reacts with formaldehyde residues which are left in the board when the hardening reactions of the actual glue have taken place, as a result of which emission of the formaldehyde residues has been considerably reduced.
